HeartCode BLS uses two required steps: complete the American Heart Association online course, then finish the hands-on practice and skills session with Winder CNA Training.
The AHA online course opens on the American Heart Association ShopCPR website. Its price is set and collected by AHA.
How HeartCode BLS works
Online learning first. Hands-on skills second.
AHA describes HeartCode BLS Online as a self-directed course that uses adaptive learning to create a personalized learning path. It is blended learning—not an online-only BLS credential—so the hands-on component is also required.
Hands-on skills required
Practice and demonstrate CPR and AED skills with an AHA Instructor.
Two-year eCard
Successful completion of both portions results in an AHA BLS Provider eCard valid for two years.

After successfully completing both portions, receive the applicable AHA BLS Provider eCard.

- You have a valid HeartCode BLS Online completion certificate
- You only need the in-person practice and skills testing
- Your employer or school accepts the AHA BLS credential

What is a HeartCode BLS skills session?+−
It is the instructor-led, hands-on portion of the American Heart Association HeartCode BLS blended-learning pathway. Students complete HeartCode BLS Online before attending the skills session.
Do I need to complete HeartCode BLS Online first?+−
Yes. You must successfully complete the AHA HeartCode BLS online portion and present the completion certificate before the hands-on session.

Purchase the official HeartCode BLS Online course directly from the American Heart Association ShopCPR website. The AHA online course and Winder CNA Training's $50 hands-on skills session are separate purchases.

Will I receive an AHA BLS Provider eCard?+−
